A Virginia court has ordered a man to leave his home after he allegedly beat up his ex-girlfriend in an eviction dispute.
The woman said she filed a complaint against the man, who is in his 30s, after he kicked her in the stomach, smashed her car window and threatened to kill her.
In a statement, a Virginia Department of Public Safety spokesman said the department “has determined that the conduct depicted in this video is criminal.”
The department did not release the man’s name or his lawyer.
The man, whose name was not released, was arrested Wednesday and charged with assault with a deadly weapon and criminal mischief, the spokesman said.
A neighbor told The Associated Press that the woman said her ex-boyfriend kicked her, and the two had been arguing before the incident, which happened Thursday.
The neighbor said she told police that her ex told her he was going to kill himself and that he had threatened to attack the man with a knife, but he didn’t show up for work, she said.
The police report says the woman told police she tried to get the man to get help, but “the suspect refused to comply.”
